Dorothy G. Capps, 96, of Port Huron went home to be with the Lord Sunday, May 4, 2014.

She was born June 6, 1917 in Detroit to the late Patrick and Emma Walsh. She married William H. Capps on September 21, 1935 in Port Huron. He died February 8, 1989.

Mrs. Capps graduated from Port Huron High School and Port Huron Junior College with a degree in Nursing. She was employed with several area hospitals until going to work for Chrysler Corporation. She was a long time member of the Salvation Army.

She is survived by her sons, William D. (Sue) Capps and Donald E. (Janet) Capps; grandchildren, Joan (Pete) Miller, Carol (Richard) Blankenship, Paul Capps, Elizabeth (Mark) Andrzejewski, Jennifer (Dan) Kosel, James Pepper, Mary (Brian) Kendzierski, Jennifer DeRidder, Bryan Beach and William (Kim) Beach III; 19 great grandchildren, Alec and Brendan Blankenship, Nichole and Amber Miller, Chaz and Kenzi Andrzejewski, Sarah Kosel, Amanda Capps, Eric Spedding, Savannah Doan, Tierney McCue, Dakota and Jourdan DeRidder, Max Sweeney, Zane, Remi, Nevin, Nicholas and Hannah Beach; brother, Elmer Walsh; sister, Jean Lewandowski; former daughter-in-law, Margaret Capps; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Capps in 1953; five sisters, Kathleen, Viola, Betty, Patricia and her twin sister, Doris; and former daughters-in-law, Eiko Capps and Sandra Capps.

Visitation will be from 2-5 and 7-9 pm Wednesday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014 at The Salvation Army, Port Huron Citadel. Major Mark Turner will officiate.

Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Andrzejewski, Richard Blankenship, Chaz Andrzejewski, James Pepper and Troy Peyerk.

Memorials may be made to The Salvation Army.
