Dennis W Trombley

Dennis Walter Trombley, 85, of Kimball Township, died Friday, November 6, 2026.

He was born December 17, 1940 in Detroit to the late Walter and June Trombley. He married Gayle McGreevy on May 21, 1966 in Detroit.

Dennis served in the U.S. Navy and earned a bachelor’s degree from Wayne State University. He worked for the Detroit Fire Department for 38 years, retiring as Senior Fire Chief in 2000. Dennis was an avid golfer and social butterfly who enjoyed striking up conversations wherever he went. Above all, he cherished his family and the time spent with them. Dennis was a member and active volunteer with Trinity Lutheran Church who could be found Sunday mornings greeting fellow parishioners up until the time of service.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gayle; three children, Jennifer (John) Weot, Julie Trombley and Michael Trombley (Paul Martin); and grandson, Austin Trombley.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2026 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Port Huron. Vicar John Pegg will officiate.

Private graveside services will be held in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Military Honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Navy.
