Kevin Collins
Kevin John Collins, 59, of Port Huron Township, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 26, 2014 as the result of a bicycle/automobile accident.
He was born January 28, 1955 in Detroit to the late John and Shirley Collins. He married his best friend Marcia D. Schrock on October 27, 1979 in Mt. Pleasant.
Mr. Collins was a graduate of Central Michigan University. He worked for 20 years in the newspaper circulation industry. He was involved with Youth For Christ most of his life, serving in Military Community Youth Ministries at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, and as Associate Director and most recently, Executive Director of YFC East Michigan. Kevin loved to laugh, be with people and enjoyed sailing, bicycling, and attending weekly Pastors Prayer Meetings. He attended Colonial Woods Missionary Church.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia; son, Shannon Collins; and daughter and son-in-law, whom he considered a son, Stephanie and Matthew Koshay; two grandchildren, Jael and Owen Koshay; his sister, Charlene Bramble; his spiritual sister, Sue Wesson; his stepmother, Kathleen Collins; his mothers-in-law, Wilma Blackman and Bonnie Schrock; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bruce (Sandra) Schrock, Beverly Saller and Robert (Kay) Blackman; aunts and uncle, Elaine Schultz, Page (Sandra) Bellinger; several nieces, nephews and cousins; Gregg Masters and many others who thought of Kevin as a father. He was preceded in death by a niece, Angela Schrock; and a brother-in-law, Bruce Saller.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Thursday and 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. Friday in the Marysville Funeral Home, 1200 Michigan Avenue, Marysville,
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2014 in Colonial Woods Missionary Church, 3240 Pine Grove Avenue, Port Huron, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. The Reverend Phil Whetstone and Lieutenant Colonel Jose Rodriguez, U.S. Army Ret., will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Port Huron Township.
