Lea L Flinchbaugh
Lea L. Simpson Flinchbaugh, 94, of Jackson, formerly of Port Huron, died Monday, June 2, 2014.
She was born June 28, 1919 in Ashtabula, Ohio to the late Jacob and Hilma Flink.
Mrs. Flinchbaugh graduated from Northern Michigan University with a teaching degree in home economics and was a member of two honor sororities. She taught in the Port Huron Area Schools and was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church and the Blue Water Audubon Society. She enjoyed reading, writing poetry, gardening and bird watching.
She is survived by two children, Carol (Russell) Spanninga of Springport and John Ray (Earlene) Simpson of Florida; a stepdaughter, Nancy Randolph of Florida; five grandchildren, Dr. Sarah Spanninga, Ph.D., Sgt. R.J. (Sarah K.) Spanninga, U.S. Army, Zach (Loren) Simpson, Mark Randolph and Melissa Alvarez; and five great grandchildren, Sabrina and Leah Simpson, Skylar Blu Spanninga, and Joshua and Natalie Alvarez. She was preceded in death by her husbands, John Simpson and Jack Flinchbaugh; and a stepson, John Flinchbaugh.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 in the Marysville Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. The Reverend Donald R. Doerzbacher will officiate.
Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Water Audubon Society or the St. Clair County Library.
