Peter E. Lapka, 73, of Marysville died Sunday, June 15, 2014.

He was born December 27, 1940 in Port Huron to the late Peter A. and Aleatha (Dixie) Lapka. He married Diana Sass on February 18, 1965.

Peter was a graduate of Port Huron High School and served in the US Air Force for 4 years.

During his younger years, he was a local musician playing with many bands and toured with “Ter-Cels” for several years. He was a pilot, certified flight instructor, SCUBA diver, golfer, fisherman and an avid bowler where he rolled several 300 games over his career. He was a member of the Port Huron South Park Lions Club for 25 years where he served as District Governor from 2006 to 2007. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 0449 and the United States Bowling Congress.

During his professional career he was involved in the marine industry where he made custom boat tops. He retired from Lear Corporation as a process engineer.

Peter is survived by his wife of 49 years, Diana; son, Michael (Donna) Lapka; granddaughter, Tonya Lapka; step-grandchildren, Taylor Bruhns, Brandon Baker, Therese and Tara Bowen; 4 step-great grandchildren; sister, Ruth Ann (Charles) Womack; aunts, Marge and Barbara Anglebrandt; and many cousins.

Visiting will be from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Wednesday in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 11 am Thursday, June 19, 2014 in the funeral home. Rev. Jane Rathman of St. Matthew United Church of Christ will officiate.
