Derrick Duane Holmon, Jr., 5, of Port Huron, died unexpectedly on Friday, July 11, 2014.
He was born April 6, 2009 in Port Huron. He attended Cleveland Elementary School for two years.
Derrick enjoyed music, dancing and school. He was a happy, fun-loving boy who was a joy to be around. Everyone who met him was left with an impression from his infectious smile and mischievous behavior. He had a way of making bad look cute.
He is survived by his parents, Derrick D. Holmon Sr. and Jennifer Miller; five siblings, Brandon, Andante’, Katherine, Tatyana and Andreas Holmon; grandparents, Mary & Donald McCullough and Ben & Chonita Ali; aunts, Andrea Miller and Dana (Corey) Kelley; first cousins, Amari and Mikayla Fleming, Demareo Beard, and Trayvion and Trayshawn Poole; god-grandmother, Margaret Hawkins; god-brother, Clarence Thompson; and a host of great aunts, great uncles, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Arthur Lee Adams; a grandmother, Cathy Holmon; and a first cousin, DeAnte Beard.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Friday in All Nation Redemption Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014 in All Nation Redemption Center, 2030 Church Street, Port Huron. Elder Vincent Matthews, Sr. will officiate. Pallbearers will be Christopher Miller, Ja’Haun Harper, Woodrow “Wam” Miller, Dionte’ Worthem, James Brown, Darren Kidd, Damien Kidd, Mar’Kel Brown, and Joseph Lincoln.
