Joseph W Rutherford

Joseph Wayne Rutherford, 81, of Fort Gratiot, died Tuesday, July 22, 2014.

He was born December 24, 1932 to the late Francis and Helen Rutherford. He married Mary Lou Remick and she preceded him in death on August 8, 1999.

Mr. Rutherford served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Following his military service, he was employed with K.G. Marks Construction for many years. He was a long time member of the Operating Engineers Local 324. He enjoyed spending time with his family and going for walks.

He is survived by his children, Ann Heidenrich, Joseph Rutherford, Jr., Cindy (Warren) Scott, Douglas (Tina) Rutherford, Denise (Scott) Smith and Jeff (Nancy) Rutherford; 17 grandchildren, Denny, Chris, Andrea, Cassandra Justine, Jenna, Coryn, Tiffany, Dustin, Travis, Lacey, Jordan, Matt, Branden, Douglas Jr., Mike, Jeanine and Adam; many great grandchildren; his companion, Doris Middleton and her sons, Larry and Joe; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014 in the funeral home. Elder Gary Piper will officiate.

Burial will be in Burtchville Township Cemetery. Joseph’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Marine Corps and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
