Velma Jean Brown, 83, of Port Huron went home to be with the Lord Sunday, August 3, 2014.
She was born August 14, 1930 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Oscar and Isabelle Tucker.
Velma Jean dedicated her life to Christ at an early age. She was a faithful servant who loved God, family, and church. She enjoyed reading the bible, gospel music, and praising the Lord. Before moving to Port Huron with her three sons, Velma Jean retired from Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY. She was also employed at Riverside Metals in Port Huron, MI for many years.
She is survived by her sons, Robert (Lisa) Parker, and Thomas Parker both of Port Huron, Sylvester Parker of Louisville, KY; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; a brother Robert L. Tucker of Chicago, IL and many nieces and nephews, including her very special niece, Brenda Rucker of Port Huron; several cousins; and her best friends, Mother Adell Peacock and Martha Porter of Port Huron and Doris Jean Wilson of Louisville, KY.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Gwenetta Love; three brothers Frank, John, and Nazarene Tucker; and a sister in-law Faustyne M. Tucker.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 pm Monday, August 11, 2014 in Lakeside Cemetery Chapel. The Reverend Al White will officiate.
