Roger H Wagner

Captain Roger H. Wagner, Ret., 78, of Port Huron, died Friday, August 15, 2014 in Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit after a brief illness.

He was born December 3, 1935 in Imlay City to the late Blair and Zola Wagner. He married Kay S. Kile on October 22, 1955 in Port Huron. She died November 17, 2013.

Mr. Wagner joined the Port Huron Police Department in July 1959 as a beat officer before moving to the patrol division. He was promoted to Sergeant in February 1968. From 1972-1978 he was sergeant in charge of the organized crimes unit. He became a Lieutenant in 1981 and a Detective Lt in 1983. He was promoted to Captain in 1985 and retired from the force on December 13, 1990. He served in the U.S. Army, 501st Paratrooper Division from 1954-1957. He was a member of Charles Hammond American Legion Post # 8 and Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #129. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and the lottery.

He is survived by two children, Cynthia (Donald) Fleming and Kevin (Darlene) Wagner; seven grandchildren, Cody (Sara) Fleming, Shelby Fleming and fiancé, Jeremy Wiegand, Karissa, Stephanie, Catherine, Brian and Justin Wagner; four great grandchildren, C.J. Fleming, Jeremy D.J. Wiegand, Jaykwan McGowan and MacKenzie Wagner; a brother, Michael (Kathy) Wagner; sister, Betty (Floyd) Swoffer; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, M. Gerry (Shirla) Kile; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2014 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate.

Inurnment will be in the Allied Veterans Cemetery Columbarium. Military honors will be conducted by the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.
