John E Schef
John Edward Schef, 89, of Port Huron, died Monday, November 17, 2014.
He was born May 22, 1925 in Port Huron to the late George and Bessie Schef. He married Betty Jean Conklin on November 23, 1950 in Port Huron.
Mr. Schef served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of D.A.V. Chapter 12. He was an electrician with Mueller Brass at the time of his retirement and worked for Peerless Cement for 25 years. He was also a minnow dipper and owned Frank’s Bait near the Seaway Terminal for many years. He enjoyed playing cards, hunting and fishing. John was a good father and husband.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty; seven children, John (Terri) Schef, Sally Schef, Peggy Vanostran, Thomas (Linda) Schef, Craig Schef and fiancé, Tammy, Mary Herr and Daniel (Nora) Schef; 19 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, June Romero and Jean Tokarski; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Tokarski.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 21, 2014 in Westminster Presbyterian Church. Dr. Tom Brown will officiate. John’s grandchildren will served as pallbearers. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard and the U.S. Army.
Memorial contributions may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church or D.A.V. Chapter 12.
