Nicholas G Hrisca

Nicholas George Hrisca, 85, of Marysville, passed away Friday, November 21, 2014 after an extended illness.

He was born January 21, 1929 in Detroit to the late George and Anna Hrisca. Nick graduated as a 12 letterman from Marysville High School in 1948. He served honorably for eight years in the National Guard L Company 125th Infantry.

On June 12, 1954, he married Delores Steele. They owned and operated the Dee Anna Motel/Marysville Motor Inn from 1955 until they retired in 1996. Nick served the City of Marysville for decades on the Board of Appeals and the Board of Review.

He was a lifelong member of the Port Huron South Park Lions Club and received many prestigious awards. He was a Zone and Regional Chairman. He received the Melvin Jones Fellowship for Dedicated Humanitarian Services, the President’s Award for Outstanding Leadership, the Distinguished Service Award for 50 years of Dedicated Service, the International Association of Lions Clubs Life Membership, and the International President’s Certificate of Appreciation.

He was an avid bowler, and was a league secretary for 28 years in the Service Clubs League. He was a Port Huron Association All Events Champion and won many league championships in various leagues, carried a high average, and bowled in state and national tournaments.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Delores; two sons, Dale (Nancy) Hrisca of Marysville and Steven (Susan) Hrisca of Las Vegas, Nevada; five grandchildren, Dr. Kaydee Hrisca of Pensacola, Florida, Stephanie Hrisca of Las Vegas, Nevada, Air Force 1st Lt. Jasen (Rachel) Hrisca of Clovis, New Mexico, Shawn Hrisca of Las Vegas, Nevada and Sarah Hrisca of Allendale; two brothers, Bill (Gloria) Hrisca of Marysville and David (Lee) Hrisca of Laguna Niguel, California; and a sister, Lolly Albert of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 in the Marysville Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Major Mark Turner of The Salvation Army will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the South Park Lions Club.

Memorial contributions may be made to South Park Lions Club or The Salvation Army.
