Mary Jane Haener
February 15th, 1948 to December 8th, 2014
Mary Jane Haener, 66, of East China, died December 8, 2014 in her home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous fight with a very rare and aggressive cancer.
She was born February 15, 1948 in Baseline, Michigan. She married William Haener on June 1, 1968 in Warren.
Mary Jane attended St. Clair County Community College and earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Social Work from Wayne State University. She had advanced training at the Center for Loss and Life Transition in Fort Collins, Colorado under the direction of Dr. Alan Wolfelt. She was a grief counselor with Pollock-Randall and Marysville Funeral Homes, the Blue Water Christian Counseling Center and Bridge Builders. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and a volunteer with Blue Water Hospice. Mary Jane was active in numerous community activities and Bible studies.
She is survived by her husband, William; three sons, Jeffrey M. Haener of Belleville, Mark J. (Tara) Haener of Rochester and Steven M. (Jennifer) Haener of Rochester Hills; six grandchildren, Gianna, Cruz, Luke, Brock, Brody and Eli Haener; her mother, Anna Lopuszansky of Macomb; a sister, Natalie (James) Cerullo of Macomb; a nephew, Nicholas (Michele) Cerullo and their son, Christian, of Macomb; three nieces, Erica (Salvatore) Spera of Macomb, Amanda Cerullo (Scott Raymaker) of Royal Oak and Danielle Cerullo of Macomb; an uncle, George Iadipaolo of Holly; and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Lopuszansky and her grandmother, Marie Iadipaolo.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 Thursday and Friday in the Marysville Funeral Home.
Mary Jane will lie in state from 10 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2014 in Holy Cross Catholic Church, 610 S. Water St., Marine City.
The Rite of Committal will follow in Rosehill Cemetery, East China Township. Pallbearers will be Jeffrey, Mark and Steven Haener, James and Nicholas Cerullo and John Iadipaolo.
The family requests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the St. John Foundation Pediatric “Walk with Me” Hospice, PO Box 673271, Detroit, MI 48267-3271.
