Robert Foss
Robert H. Foss, 87, of Port Huron Township, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014 after a year-long battle with leukemia.
He was born August 3, 1927 in Port Huron to the late Harold P. and Loretta E. Foss. He married Edna A. Bartley on August 28, 1954 in the Deckerville Methodist Church.
Mr. Foss served in the 772nd Military Police Battalion in Korea from 1951-1953. He was employed as a customer service representative for the Detroit Edison for 46 years before his retirement in July of 1990. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Port Huron and sang in the Sanctuary Choir for more than 70 years. He was also a member of the United Methodist Men. He enjoyed making wooden toys, golfing and helped organize many class reunions for the Port Huron High School Class of 1945.
He is survived by his wife, Edna; daughters, Catherine (Stephen) Grattan and Elizabeth (Robert) Hart; son, Ronald Foss; grandsons, David (Janal) Grattan, Paul (Rachel) Grattan, Adam (Ashley) Hart and Brian Hart; great granddaughter, Miranda Grattan; brother-in-law, Kenneth Bartley; sister-in-law, Norma MacDonald; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting will be from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Monday in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, December 30, 2014 in First United Methodist Church. Rev. John Huhtala will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fort Gratiot. David Grattan, Paul Grattan, Adam Hart, Brian Hart, Jeffery MacDonald and James Bartley will serve as pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Endowment Fund.
