Mary M Silvagi

March 21st, 1921 to January 2nd, 2015
Mary Martha Silvagi, 93, of Warren, passed away peacefully with her family around her on January 2, 2015 in Fort Gratiot.

She was born March 21, 1921 in Budapest, Hungary, the daughter of the late Emery and Maria Papp. She married Joseph Szilvagyi on June 6, 1942, and they shortened their name to Silvagi a few years later. He passed away on January 2, 1994, exactly 21 years before she died.

Mary attended Marygrove College and lived both in Warren, MI and Sarnia, Ontario for years. She was a world traveler, collector, nature and animal lover. Her greatest joy, by far, was her family and friends. She enjoyed get-togethers immensely and being surrounded by her loving family.

She is survived by her son, Gulliver (Marion) Silvagi of Washington Township, Janette (Kevin) Hudgins of Fort Gratiot, Marco (Denise) Silvagi of West Palm Beach, FL, Rosetta (Dennis) Mobley of Sedona, AZ; grandchildren, Jackie (Bob) Heine, Marie (Brian) Warren, Frank (Annette) Silvagi, Lisa (Roger) Pawlowski, Joseph (Julie) Silvagi, Nick (Michelle) Silvagi, Rebecca Silvagi, Noah Silvagi, Camille (Mark) Wheeler, and Maryanne Mobley; and 26 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by the Michelle and Darryl Clay family of Ada, OH, who were proud to call her Grandma Mary.

A service celebrating Mary’s life will be held at her home in Sarnia during the summer of 2015.

Memorials may be made to Blue Water Humane Society, 6266 Lapeer Road, Clyde Township, MI 48049.
