Daniel R Paulus

December 3rd, 1964 to January 8th, 2015
Daniel “Dan” Raymond Paulus, 50, of Ann Arbor, died, Thursday, January 8, 2015 as a result of being hit by an automobile while crossing a street in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

He was born December 3, 1964 in Port Huron to George and Rita Paulus, the youngest in a family of ten children.

Daniel graduated from Port Huron High School in 1983 and earned a Bachelor's degree from Eastern Michigan University. Dan loved to fish, play cards, and make people laugh. His life changed dramatically in 1985, after he survived a car accident that left him with a serious head injury. Dan lived his life with kindness, joy and courage. He was fun, he was quirky, and he was much-loved. His family is already missing him; our Bean, our #10, our Dan the Man.

He is survived by his parents, George and Rita Paulus; three brothers, Mark Paulus, Bill Paulus and Matt (Julie) Paulus; five sisters, Karen Paulus, Julia (Marc) Shure, Nancy (Scott) Armstrong, Janet O’Malley and Bridget (Scot) Smith; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Paulus in 1990.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the Marysville Funeral Home. The family will have a time of sharing memories at 8:30 p.m.

Mr. Paulus will lie in state in St. Christopher Catholic Church on Friday, January 16, 2015 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Arthur Baranowski will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be made to the Brain Injury Association of Michigan, the Rita O’Reilly Paulus Family Fund as administered by the Madison Community Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
