Irvin J. “Iffy” Osentoski

Irvin Joseph “Iffy” Osentoski, 88, of Marysville died, Saturday, February 14, 2015 in his home after a long illness.

He was born May 22, 1926 in Austin Township, Sanilac County to the late Paul and Angeline (Oparka) Osentoski. He married Irene (Ruggeri) Rutkofske on April 15, 1961.

Mr. Osentoski was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, serving in the European Theater in France and Germany with the 394th Infantry Regiment, 99th Division, and the 2027th Prisoner of War Overhead Detachment from 1944 to 1946. He participated in the Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns.

He was employed by and retired from the Anker Holth in Port Huron before working many years at the Marysville Golf Course. He graduated from Marysville High School in 1944.

He was a 70 year Life Member of the Marysville American Legion Post #449 and a member of Port Huron Moose Lodge #158.

He is survived by three children, Nancy (Rutkofske) & Curtiss DeLong of Marysville, Mary Lou (Rutkofske) & Chuck Houghten of Algonac, and Lloyd “Bud” Rutkofske of Marysville; daughter-in-law, Margaret Rutkofske of Port Huron; son-in-law, William Brown of Gaylord; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother, Ernest (Genevieve) Osentoski of Marysville; two sisters, Virginia Ren of Wales Township and June (Robert) Ward of Marysville; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene on August 20, 1998; a son, Richard L. Rutkofske in 2005; a daughter, Meredith Brown in 2013; and a brother, Casimir Osentoski in 2013.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2015 in the Marysville Funeral Home. The Reverend Arthur Baranowski will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the Veterans Honor Guard Alliance.
