Mattie Celestine Robinson, 71, of Port Huron, departed this life to be with God on April 1, 2015.
She was born April 15, 1943 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the eldest of eleven children born to the late Yvonne Bonita and Harold O. Smith Sr. Mattie received her early education in the Pittsburgh Public Schools and graduated from Schenley High School in 1961.
She met and married the love of her life, William Robinson, and from that union were born three children. Mattie found great joy in caring for her family and her in-laws as well.
“Missy Mattie,” as she was affectionately called by all children under her tutelage, received great joy from helping at Crescent School in Pittsburgh, Cleveland Elementary, Head Start and Montessori Academy, all of Port Huron. She was a very hard worker and helped support her family. She retired from United Technologies in 1999 after 20 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lorrie L. Robinson; brother, Harold O. Smith Jr.; sister, Diane Smith; three uncles; two aunts and her father-in-law.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, William Robinson; two children, William “Robbie” Robinson II and Kimberly (Vincent) Loving; seven grandchildren, William C., Robeaha, Laura, Jamal, Isheia, Allen and Caia Loving; two great grandchildren, Amaia and Patricia Robinson; eight siblings, Evangelist Rosemarie Smith, Harriett Smith, Paul Smith, Stephanie (Aby) Adams, Sylvia Smith, Karen Smith, Luvenia Jones and Howard Smith; several nieces and nephews; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, including Marcia & Skip Jefferson; and special friends, Pat Majors, Bev Smyrs, Joanne Allen and Gail DeLapreau.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, April 10 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2015 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Reverend Carl Miller will officiate.
