Dorothy Suggs

Dorothy M. Suggs, 89, of Port Huron, died Sunday, April 19, 2015 at home after a lengthy illness.

She was born August 19, 1925 in Port Huron to the late Oscar and Christina Pope. She married Clarence Suggs on October 27, 1945 in Port Huron. He died July 1, 2004.

Mrs. Suggs retired from Prestolite after 18 years of service. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church for many years where she sang in the church choir. She enjoyed traveling, camping, the health fitness club of Los Angeles and visiting the sick and shut-ins.

She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Christina K. Suggs of Los Angeles, California and Beverly A. Suggs of Port Huron; two sons, Douglas C. Suggs of Port Huron and Dr. Kevin D. Suggs of Los Angeles, California; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Minnie Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Suggs was preceded in death by a son, Clarence Winston “Chuckie” Suggs; three sisters, Marie Pope, Thelma Wingfield and Gladys Velez; and a brother, Billy Hughes.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Reverend Leonard Meadows will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
