Lawrence Julius “Bud” Richard, 84, of Fort Gratiot Township, died Monday, May 4, 2015 after a short illness.
He was born May 8, 1930 in Detroit to the late Lawrence and Dorothy Richard.
Mr. Richard was a graduate of Port Huron High School. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Army. He was employed with Sears and Roebuck for many years, retiring in 1993, and was a self-made investor. He loved breeding and showing Arabian horses and boxer dogs with his former wife, Patricia Wyllie. Jazz music was a big part of his life and he also loved writing poetry.
He is survived by his daughter, Linda (Dennis) Jones; sons, John Richard (Kristy), Marc (Marsha) Richard, Michael (Mary Ann) Richard, Douglas (Mollie) Richard, Kevin (Slavica) Richard and Jan (Christine) Richard; 25 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sisters, Marilyn Johnson, Julia Adams; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Lawrence J. Richard; and former wife, Joyce Smythe-Jessup.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 7, 2015 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. Major Mark Turner of the Salvation Army will officiate.
Memorials may be made to the Blue Water Area Humane Society.
