Hazel M "Peggy" Ingerson
Hazel Marguerite “Peggy” Ingerson, 91, of Fort Gratiot, died Saturday, May 9, 2015.
She was born December 28, 1923 in Port Huron to the late Thomas and Celia Alloway and was a lifelong area resident. She married Ralph Ingerson on September 22, 1945 in Washington Avenue United Methodist Church.
During the war, Peggy was a shipping clerk with Grand Trunk Railroad and sold Sunbeam Equipment at various local department stores. When her first child was born, she began her true passion of being a stay at home mom. Peggy enjoyed dance club and boating with her husband and they were members of Port Huron Power Squadron. She also enjoyed bowling, sewing, cooking and baking. Peggy loved the four poodles she raised over her lifetime.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Ralph; three children, Thomas (Barb) Ingerson, Terry (Marie) Ingerson and Tamara (Paul) Bailey; seven grandchildren, Greg Ingerson, Nick Ingerson, Matt (D.J.) Ingerson, Melissa (Travis) Washington, Lindsey Bailey, Tina (Carl) Smith and Karen Lake; eight great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers, including her brother, Thomas, who was lost on a submarine during World War II.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2015 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Rev. Max Amstutz will officiate.
Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron.
Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross.
