Larry Wayne West, Sr., 62, of Marysville, died Wednesday, May 13, 2015.
He was born February 28, 1953 in Wilmington, Ohio to Betty and the late Frank West.
Larry retired as a Sergeant with the Marysville Police Department after 25 years of service. He graduated from East Clinton Schools in Ohio in 1971 and graduated from the Michigan State Police Academy in Pontiac. Throughout his career and after retirement, he was an instructor at the Macomb Criminal Justice Training Center. He was a member of the William E. Lewis Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #129. In retirement, he obtained a Business Degree from St. Clair County Community College. Larry was an avid golfer and longtime member of B.P.O.E. Lodge #343. He loved sports, especially baseball, football and basketball; enjoyed listening to music and was a former manager of the group “Double Play”; and was a BMW enthusiast.
He is survived by his son, Larry (Lori) West, Jr.; his daughter, Valerie (Norm Jr.) Schuyler; three grandchildren, Trent and Elsie West and Mallori Pelletier; his mother, Betty West; his brother, Randall West (Jean Wright); a niece and three nephews.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday and 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday in the Marysville Funeral Home. An Elks Lodge of Sorrows service will be held at 6:00 pm Monday in the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 in the Marysville Funeral Home. The Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate.
Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville. Pallbearers will be members and retirees of the Marysville Department of Public Safety.
