Charlotte Schenk

November 23rd, 1931 to July 25th, 2015
Charlotte Schenk, 83, of Fort Gratiot, died on Saturday, July 25, 2015 in Tulsa, OK while in hospice care at the home of her daughter, Charmaine Lee, surrounded by loved ones.

She was born in Germany and after surviving World War II, met and fell in love with Raymond Lyle Schenk II. They were married from January 19, 1948 until June 5, 1998 when Ray passed away.

Charlotte was known as a wife, mom, waitress, hostess, and friend; but being an overcomer was something she carried in almost all her roles. Living through the war in Germany taught her to grow up fast. It was an act of survival to eat & live and run from religious persecution. She came to America after marrying and overcame the anti-German sentiments of post-war America. After losing five babies, Charlotte became the mother of four healthy children. Her life then revolved around her family. She fought Stage 4 breast cancer for 26 years and at the end fought for her last breath. Life is a fight for many things but death, the greatest opponent, was conquered through acceptance that she was a sinner & that Jesus Christ gave her eternal life with Him. She will not have to fight anymore. (II Timothy 4:7)

Surviving Charlotte are her four children, Charmaine Lee and husband Bill, of Jenks OK; Raymond Schenk III and wife Celeste of Chanhassen, MN, Dwight L. Schenk and wife Stephanie of Owasso, OK; Catherine Sprotberry and husband Steve of Marysville, eight grandchildren, Carolyn, Ray, Andrea, Lauren, Kelly, Elizabeth, Kyle, Jeffrey; and one great grandchild, Eli.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2015 in Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International.
