Mary Louise Thornton, 89, of Smiths Creek, died Sunday, August 9, 2015 in her home surrounded by her family.
She was born July 16, 1926 in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada to the late Thomas and Lula Jackson. She married Eldon Guy Thornton on March 15, 1947 in Sarnia. He preceded her in death on September 22, 2011.
Mary enjoyed volunteering for activities at The Salvation Army Port Huron Citadel where she worshiped.
She is survived by her daughters, Lynn Kendrick of Davison, Michigan, Barbara (Lawrence) Saad of Maryland, Sandra (Joseph) Palescuk-Danna of Marysville, Michigan; son, Thomas (Ann) Thornton of Port Huron, Michigan; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three nieces; sister, June Callander of Sarnia; special friends and neighbors, Joe and Margaret Sedwick; and her Salvation Army family.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Wednesday in Marysville Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, August 13, 2015 in Marysville Funeral Home with visitation from 9:00 am. Major Kirk E. Schuetz of The Salvation Army Port Huron Citadel will officiate.
Burial will be in Washington Township Cemetery. Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
