Gerald J. Keegan, 66, of Emmett, died Wednesday, September 2, 2015.

He was born November 8, 1948 in Port Huron to the late Joseph and Madeline “Mid” Keegan. He married Judith “Judy” Mead on October 24, 1969 in St. Clair.

Jerry owned and operated G. J. Keegan Hay in Emmett and was a member of the National Hay Association since 1977 and was President in 1994. Jerry was known as the “go-to guy to get it done” among other hay and straw suppliers. He traveled to Korea as an ambassador for the Hay Association. He enjoyed spending time with his friends in the “Hayological Society” building located behind his house. Judy will remember going up in the 60-foot manlift with Jerry to watch the sunset and look over the farm in Emmett. Jerry enjoyed restoring antique John Deere tractors.

He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and volunteered with the St. Clair County Farm Museum.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; two sisters, Barbara Sullivan and Joanne (Jack) Haley; several nieces, nephews and cousins; many friends; and many of Judy’s friends whom he affectionately called the “thundering herd.” He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kelly Ann Keegan; his son, Brian Keegan; a brother, Jack Keegan; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Wanda and Kenneth Mead.

Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Mr. Keegan will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2015 in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Emmett. The Reverend Joe Gagnon will officiate.

The Rite of Committal will follow in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Water Hospice House or Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church Building Fund.
