Michael C Tovarez

Michael Christopher Tovarez, 72, of Marysville, died Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at home surrounded by his family.

He was born January 20, 1943 in Detroit. He married Marilyn Siler on February 20, 1965 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Clair.

Mr. Tovarez retired from the St. Clair County Road Commission after 32 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army and the Michigan National Guard. He was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church, Marysville American Legion Post #449 and Moose Lodge #158. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, was an avid Marysville Viking sports fan and in recent years was frequently seen riding around Marysville in his golf cart.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Marilyn; five children, Lisa Martiny, Teresa (Mark) Gordon, Jon (Julie) Tovarez, David (Cathy) Tovarez and Matthew (Jamie) Tovarez; 12 grandchildren, Christopher and Nicholas Martiny, Joshua (Ariana) Gordon, Aaron Gordon, Anna, Beth, Natalia, Arianna, Katelyn and Breanna Tovarez, Lauren Dietlin and Ashley Tovarez. He was preceded in death by his in-laws, Eugene and Helen Siler, and sister-in-law, Karen MacRae.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Thursday and 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Mr. Tovarez will lie in state from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2015 in St. Christopher Catholic Church. The Reverend James Arwady will officiate.
