Robert Elton Fenner, 90, of Hilliard, Ohio, formerly of Port Huron, died Thursday, October 15, 2015.
He was born June 4, 1925 in Port Huron to the late Bert and Margaret Fenner. He married Reta Rock on June 12, 1948 in Port Huron. She died January 9, 2005.
Mr. Fenner was a building contractor, painter and wallpaper hanger who had many loyal customers. He was a lifelong area resident and built his own home in Port Huron in 1957 and lived there until 2011, when he moved to Ohio to be near his daughter. He served in the U.S. Army as a tank driver in the Second Armored Division during World War II. His division was instrumental in the victory at the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Fenner loved golf and was a euchre champion with his wife, Reta. He took loving care of Reta for six years at home until she required nursing home care.
He is survived by two daughters, Mary Kay MacQueen (Dennis) Carey and Linda Sue (Rodney) McComber; three grandchildren, Todd (Kelly) MacQueen, Myndi MacQueen (Eric) Zipf and Sarah (Mark) Mengoni; four great grandchildren, Caleb and Nathan MacQueen, Taylor Zipf and Ricky Flores; a brother, Floyd Fenner; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-9 pm October 25, 2015 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, October 26, 2015 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation from 11:00 am. The Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate.
Burial will be in Caswell Cemetery, Kimball Township. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
