Martin W Conniff

Martin William Conniff, 86, of Port Huron, died Friday, November 20, 2015.

He was born January 6, 1929 in Redford to the late Martin W. and Irva S. Conniff. He married Dolores A. Marsh on June 30, 1951 in Angola, Indiana. She preceded him in death on November 9, 2015.

Mr. Conniff was employed with The Grand Trunk Western Railroad for 45 years until his retirement on May 30, 1995. He enjoyed walks with his wife, sitting by the river, watching the freighters, family visits and breakfast at Loxton’s Restaurant every Tuesday morning with his railroad buddies. He was affectionately known as the “candy man” because he always had a piece of candy for everyone he met.

He is survived by daughter, Susan Conniff; two sons, Lyle Conniff and Lee Conniff; four grandchildren, Matthew, Peggy, Seth and Jean-Luc Gilbert; two great grandchildren, Trenton and Bailey Gilbert; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Hazel Conniff on March 10, 1980; a grandson, Pierce Gilbert and eight brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 2015 in the Lakeside Cemetery Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
