Harold A Keeler

Harold Alfred Keeler, 96, of Smiths Creek, died, Friday, December 25, 2015. He was born November 5, 1919 in Port Huron to the late Ira and Ethel Keeler. He married Betty Lou Neff on September 19, 1942. Mr. Keeler served in the U.S. Army with the 179th Ordinance Heavy Automotive Maintenance Battalion stationed in Aberdeen, Maryland and fought in the Philippines during WWII. He was employed as a union construction worker until his retirement in 1982 and also served as a union trustee for several years. Some of the projects he worked on included bridge work on I-69, water filtration plant on Metcalf Road, Talmer Bank Building on Black River and Baker College on Lapeer Road. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, reading western novel, traveling with the family to national parks, walking to the library and swimming in the family pool. He was a member of the May O’Brien V.F.W. Post 8465 and the NRA. He is survived by his children, Kathy (Pete) Berg, Lou Ann Grimson, Danny Keeler, Doris (John) Huntoon, Patrick Keeler, Kay (Wilfred) Ruck and Sheila Mueller; 20 grandchildren and many, many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Lou; daughter, Ruby McDonald and grandson, Craig Ruck. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday, December 28, 2015 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cottrellville Township. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
