Walter C Cumerlato
Walter C. Cumerlato, 87, of Port Huron, died Sunday, December 27, 2015.
He was born April 25, 1928 in Port Huron to the late Norman and Marguerite Cumerlato. He married Delores Jean Conrad on November 7, 1953 in Ross Memorial Church, Port Huron. She preceded him in death on November 16, 2003.
Mr. Cumerlato graduated from Port Huron High School in 1947 and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for F.W. Woolworth for 16 years rising from stock boy to store manager in Detroit and also worked for Morton Salt. He then worked for and retired from Wonder Bread in 1984 after 16 years as a salesman. He was a member of Westhaven Baptist Church and also a member of Moose Lodge #158, B.P.O.E. Lodge #343, American Legion Marysville Post #449, and V.F.W. May O’Brien Post #8465.
He is survived by his children, Walter “Joe” (Christine) Cumerlato, Lucy (Doug) Lorf, and Heather (Paul) Harris; 6 grandchildren, Heidi (Jim) Benner, Emily Mason, Traci (Joe) Collins, and Samantha, Zachary, and Christian Harris; 9 great grandchildren, Miranda and Austin Benner, Brysen Rann, Tanner and Conner Mason, and Mark, Dawn, Eric, and Seth Collins; a brother-in-law, Keith Morgan; a sister-in-law, Patricia (Joe) Young; and very special friend, Allene Christy. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Patricia Lorf; a grandson-in-law, Jay Mason; five brothers; and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Tuesday, December 29, 2015 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, December 30, 2015 in Westhaven Baptist Church. Pastor Randy Pouliot will officiate.
Burial will be in Caswell Cemetery, Kimball Township. Pallbearers will be Walter’s grandsons and an honorary pallbearer will be Raymond Lester. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorials may be made to Westhaven Baptist Church or the Blue Water Hospice House.
