Donald Arthur Wessel, 90, of Marysville, died Wednesday, December 30, 2015.

He was born June 10, 1925 in Jackson, Montana to the late Arthur and Sophie Wessel. He married Joyce Relken on August 17, 1957 in Port Huron.

Mr. Wessel served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was employed with Peerless Cement Company for 20 years and retired from the Marysville School District after 20 years of employment. He was a long time member of St. Christopher Catholic Church. He enjoyed completing crossword puzzles and fishing. He was an avid sports fan who loved to watch the Detroit Tigers and Lions, and NASCAR races.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joyce; children, Jeffery (Mary) Wessel and Pamela Wessel; grandchildren, Tim Wessel and Kelli (Chad) Budnick; great grandchildren, Ryan and Emily Budnick; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Wessel; and sister, Mary Smith.

Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Sunday in Marysville Funeral Home.

Mr. Wessel will lie in state from 10:30 am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am on Monday, January 4, 2016 in St. Christopher Catholic Church. The Reverend Frederick Bodde will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Navy. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
