Beatrice Janet Thayer, 92, of Marysville, died Friday, January 1, 2016.
She was born April 8, 1923 in Port Huron, to the late Hugh and Blanche Webb. She married Edsel Thayer on August 23, 1947 in Port Huron. He died September 4, 1987.
Mrs. Thayer was a teacher with the Port Huron Area School District prior to her retirement in 1985. She enjoyed dancing, listening to music, reading, traveling, playing bridge and card games, spending time with the children, grandchildren and dogs, going to her home in Florida and cheering for the Michigan State University Spartans.
She is survived by her five children, Ellen (Richard) Meadows, Kathy Sage, Marilyn “Mitzi” (Mark) Lewis, Edsel “Eddie” (Marge) Thayer and Bev Thayer; five grandchildren, Elizabeth (Martin) Zimmer, Sarah Lewis, Stephanie Sage, Travis Thayer and Cody Thayer; and two great grandchildren, Blake and Tyler Thayer.
She was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2016 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. The Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate.
Burial will be Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Council on Aging, Grace Hospice or First Congregational Church.
