Jeffery C McCabe
January 5th, 1948 to February 12th, 2016
Jeffery Charles McCabe, 68, of Port Huron, died Friday, February 12, 2016 in his home.
He was born January 5, 1948 in Port Huron to the late Charles and Phyllis McCabe and was a lifelong area resident.
Jeff graduated from the University of Michigan with honors and worked for the Port Huron Area School District for over 40 years. After acting as librarian for various schools in the district, Jeff retired several years ago as head librarian for Port High School. He battled the disease Charcot-Marie-Tooth for most of his life, but he never let it keep him down or away from any challenge. Anyone who knew Jeff knows that he took his disability and life in stride. Jeff was passionate about art, any type of literature, his friends and family, and of course, his cats, for they too were just like family.
He is survived by three siblings, Charles (Susan) McCabe, Kathleen (Grover) McCabe and Scott McCabe; nieces, Kelly (Ryan) Petersen, Kasey McCabe, Lindsay (Doug) Rance and Christina McCabe; and a great niece and grand-nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael McCabe.
Private services will be held at the Woodland Cemetery Columbarium, Port Huron Township.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association, P.O. #105, Glenolden, PA 19036 or the Blue Water Area Humane Society.
Arrangements are by Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
