Russel Daniel Black Sr., 87, of Fort Gratiot, died Thursday, February 18, 2016.

He was born May 2, 1928 in Swartz Creek to the late William and Emma Black. He married Janet Bradley on July 23, 1949 in Sturges Memorial Congregational Church in Port Huron.

Mr. Black was an iron worker with Local 25. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and traveling and he loved children.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Janet; three children, Russel (Debra) Black Jr., Sherrie (Michael) Young and Brad (Gail) Black; six grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; his first great great grandchild on the way; two sisters, Joyce Smerer and Janet Tack; and a brother, Bill (Verna) Black. He was preceded in death by seven siblings.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 22, 2016 in Blue Water Free Methodist Church, 1963 Allen Road, Kimball, with visitation beginning at 12:00 noon. The Rev. Randy Bennett will officiate.

Burial will be in Port Sanilac Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bradley Black, Fred Boyer, Tom Uminn, Dave Conger, Jayce Bennert, Craig Beauchamp and Jayson Fenlon.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Blue Water Free Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
