Richard H Rice

Richard H. Rice, 85, of Burtchville Township, died Friday, April 1, 2016.

He was born December 29, 1930 in Port Huron to the late Elmer and Frieda Rice. He married Donna June Mehler on July 31, 1948. She died March 6, 2015.

Mr. Rice was Director of Manufacturing for Mueller Brass Company and retired in 1988 after 45 years of service. He was a long time member of B.P.O E. Lodge #343 where he served as a trustee, finance committee member and was Elk of the Year twice. He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ and Charles Hammond American Legion Post #8. He enjoyed golfing and was quite a handyman.

He is survived by four children, Vicki (David) Heino, Sharron DePuey, Ronald (Cheryl) Rice and David Rice; three grandchildren, Jodi (John) Hansen, Kristi Heino and Brian DePuey; seven great grandchildren, Parker, Haleigh, Rylee, Tanner, Paige, Nathan and Raegan; sister-in-law, Cheril Rice; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Andrea DePuey; brother, Carlton “Jack” Rice; sister, Noreen Ingerson; and son-in-law, Donald DePuey

Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. An Elks Lodge of Sorrows service will be held at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2016 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. Dr. Richard E. Hotchkin will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
