Our mom, grandma and great grandma, Joyce Gladys Smerer, 90, of Port Huron, went to her Heavenly home on Friday, April 15, 2016.
She was born February 15, 1926 to the late William and Emma Black. We know she is now at peace as she meets up with the love of her life, our dad, Edward Smerer Sr. They were married for 67 years when he passed away on November 17, 2008.
Joyce loved to knit, scrapbook, to bowl, and to travel. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years and also a Girl Scout leader.
Joyce is survived by her children, Edward (Sharon) Smerer of Marysville, Gloria (Ernie) Brown of Haslett, Ronald (Sue) Smerer of Tacoma, Washington and Pam (Russ) Sartin of Port Huron; 15 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; sister, Jenny Tack; brother, William (Verna) Black; sister-in-law, Janet Black; brother-in-law, Charles Remick; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Danny (Judy) Smerer; brothers, Robert, Russel, Walter and Clifford Black; sisters, Charlotte Armstead, Beatrice Gillett, Delores McGregor and Mary Remick.
Visitation will be from 2-8 pm Monday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, April 19, 2016 in Blue Water Free Methodist Church with visitation from 10:00 am until the time of service. Reverend George Richards will officiate. Burial will follow in Port Sanilac Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
