Henry A Meter
Henry A. Meter, 98, of Port Huron Township, was reunited with his wife in heaven on Tuesday, May 10, 2016. He was born April 10, 1918 in Minatare, Nebraska to the late Alex and Elizabeth Meter. He married his childhood friend, Lydia Heinbuck, on December 14, 1935 in Bayard, Nebraska. She preceded him in death on June 10, 2012. They were married 76 years. Henry retired from Mueller Brass in 1979 after 38 years of service. He was affiliated with the union and served proudly as plant wide union representative for 35 years. He was also a long time member of Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church. He is survived by two daughters, Shirley (Donald) Porter and Patricia (William) Steiner; five grandchildren, Cindy Conant, David Porter and fiancée, Lori, Brian Porter, Douglas Huston and Kimberley (Steven) Westbrook; two great grandchildren, Bradley Westbrook and Kayla Porter; a great great granddaughter, Jasmyne Westbrook; brother, Reinhold Meter; sister, Rosie Pierce; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by eight siblings and infant grandson, Bradley Gerald. He was proud to be a member of a five generation family. The family of Henry would like to thank his neighbors, Keith, Judy and Rebecca, for always taking the time to do many things for him. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2016 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 2:30 p.m. The Reverend Aaron Duve will officiate. Henry and Lydia will be laid to rest in Woodland Cemetery, Port Huron Township. Memorials may be made to Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church or any charity.
