Pauline Susan Christoff Loope Boughner
Pauline Susan Christoff Loope Boughner, 87, of Fort Gratiot, died Friday, May 20, 2016.
She was born June 6, 1928 in Port Huron to the late Boris and Julia Christoff.
Mrs. Boughner was proud of her Hungarian heritage, enjoyed entertaining, playing the organ, Jeopardy, architecture, winning at games, the Arizona sun and her family. She had both miniature house and international doll collections accumulated over many years.
Sue had a varied career, manufacturing, landlord, insurance, education and interior decorating prior to working at Probate Court. She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed Church in her youth. Sue and husband Harley, belonged to the Elks and the VFW. She retired from St. Clair County in 1985 and moved to Apache Junction, Arizona, returning to Port Huron in 2014.
She is survived by two sons, Stephen Loope of Sterling Heights and Robert (Pam) Loope of Croswell; stepson, Michael Boughner of Port Huron; her sister, Pamela Reed of Weaverville, NC; ten grandchildren, Angela, Heather, Stephanie, Lindsay, Jillian, Kristen, Nicollette, Trevor, Allysa and Katrina; and many great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Robert Loope and Harley Boughner; her son, Anthony “Tony” Loope; and siblings, Joyce Pickelhaupt, Robert Christoff and Kathryn Parker.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2016 in St. John’s United Church of Christ with visitation from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. The Reverend Dr. Richard E. Hotchkin will officiate.
Memorials may be made to the Blue Water Area Humane Society or the church.
