Eloise M Young
Eloise M. Young, 99, of Clyde Township, died Thursday, May 26, 2016.
She was born January 27, 1917 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Frank and Flossie Simpson. She moved to North Street as a child and grew up on a dairy farm. She graduated from Croswell High School in 1935 and was honored as the oldest graduate at their 50+ reunion in August 2015. She went to work at Sears Roebuck, where she met her husband, Colin E. Young. They were married on June 28, 1941 in Grace Episcopal Church, Port Huron. He died March 29, 2008.
Mrs. Young enjoyed reading, sewing and bird watching. Eloise was always interested in painting and art but living in the country gave her more responsibilities than time, so painting was put on the back burner until recent years when she was able to express her artistic talent. She enjoyed local history and spent countless hours making scrapbooks about family and friends. For many years, she was involved with the St. Clair County Extension programs and 4-H.
She is survived by her children, Richard Young (Sue Lozano) of Port Huron and Joyce Young (Jack Whitney) of Fort Gratiot; daughter-in-law, Donna Eddy of Texas; grandchildren, Kristy Marek of Texas, Joanne Woods of Texas and Tracy Webb of Missouri; 7 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren; sister, Edna McCoy; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two infant daughters; two brother, George and Stanley Simpson; and two sisters, Frances Oswald and Evelyn Stein.
Private graveside services will be held at a later date in Kinney Cemetery, Clyde Township.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are by Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
The family wishes to thank the caring staff of Barss Residential Home for their loving and thoughtful care of Eloise over the past eight years.
