Col. Carleton J Robinson, U.S. Army (ret)
Col. Carleton James “Cash” Robinson U.S. Army (ret.), 91, of Clyde Township quietly passed away with his wife by his side on Saturday, May 28, 2016.
He was born June 29, 1924 in Port Huron to the late Carleton E. and Rose M. Robinson. He married Dorothy Marie Westphal on September 10, 1947.
Cash served with the U.S. Army for over 30 years and retired with the rank of Colonel. During that time he served active duty in World War II, Korea and Vietnam and received numerous military decorations and awards including the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star and Combat Infantryman Badge. He and his wife lived and traveled abroad during his military service. They lived in Germany, Kwajalein and the Philippines. His stateside posts were in Pennsylvania, Alabama, Kansas, Virginia and Maryland. They also traveled throughout Europe, Asia and India.
Following his service, he was a long time member of the St. Clair County Road Commission. He was an avid woodworker and member of the Port Huron Lodge #58 F. & A. M. and Port Huron High Twelve Club.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy; son, Carleton J. (Patricia) Robinson, Jr.; grandchildren, Katherine E. Robinson and Carleton James Robinson III; niece, Beverly Rybarczyk; nephew, Robert Westphal; grandnephew, Brian Pavlik; and grandniece, Cheryl Musial.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, June 4, 2016 in St. John’s United Church of Christ with visitation beginning at 9:00 am. Reverend Dr. Richard E. Hotchkin will officiate. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.
