Roger L Taylor

October 1st, 1935 to September 9th, 2016

Roger Lewis Taylor, 80, of Port Huron, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 9, 2016.

He was born October 1, 1935 in Port Huron to the late Lumbar and Buelah Taylor. He married Donna Seltzer on July 31, 1960 in Port Huron.

Mr. Taylor served in the U.S. Navy and was a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement. He was an active member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church where he served as a trustee, deacon, council member, and a member of the choir and men’s chorus. He volunteered with the March of Dimes and donated blood every 56 days. He kept an impeccable yard and home. Roger was a man of great commitment and devotion, especially to his beloved wife, Donna.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Donna: brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Donald (Diane) Seltzer, Linda Sullivan, Kathleen Johnston, Ruth Ann (Rick) Knave and Peggy Taylor; many special nieces, nephews and cousins, including Jean Weston; special friends, Stewart Watson, Helayne Bright, Harley Heinbuck and Betty, Rob and Dr. John Williams; special pastor, Rev. Donald Doerzbacher; and caregivers, Penny Marlatt, Ruth Falk, Sara Labadie, Nichole Thivierage, Cindy Bienot and Chelsa Bookrum. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald and Douglas Taylor.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 in Our Saviour Lutheran Church. The Rev. Donald Doerzbacher will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Navy and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
