Donna A Kerr

July 18th, 1926 to October 12th, 2016

Donna Alice Kerr, 90, of Port Huron Township, went to be with her Lord at 5 a.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2016. The time is important because God’s Holy Word says there is a time to be born and a time to die and Mom made the most of the years that God gave her.

Donna was born on July 18, 1926 to Frank and Gladys Bond. She had three sisters and four brothers, all of whom preceded her in death. She married Donald Morrison Kerr on August 18, 1948 and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their whole family in 1998. Don passed in 2001.

Donna is survived by a son, James (Rhonda) Kerr of Croswell; four daughters, Linda (Jim) Dahn of Port Huron, Ann Galvan of Wisconsin, Robin (Ron) Jacobs of Port Huron and Cindy (Fidel) Balderas of Tennessee; a step daughter, Dona Kerr of New Mexico; seven grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

Donna came to know the Lord at a young age while attending church with her grandmother. Her years of service to the Lord began at the age of 14 when her Mom died and left her to take care of the household and help raise her three younger siblings.

Donna was part of the family at Westhaven Baptist Church, where she served over the years as a Sunday School teacher and leader with the Women’s Mission work. In more recent years, she had taken on the responsibility of sending cards to the shut ins and others who need encouragement. She also crocheted afghans for the nursing homes and made lots of hats and mittens for The Salvation Army.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 16, 2016 in Westhaven Baptist Church. The Rev. John H. Arnold and the Rev. Randy Pouliot will officiate. A luncheon will be held prior to the service at noon.

Memorial contributions may be made to Westhaven Baptist Church or Blue Water Hospice, whose assistance was invaluable.
