Ralph Henschel
Ralph Edward Henschel, 78, of Marysville, died Wednesday, October 26, 2016.
He was born September 23, 1938 in Farmington to the late Edward and Wanda Henschel. He married Betty Zirpolo on March 5, 1960 in Faith Lutheran Church, Port Huron. She died January 22, 2013 after 53 years of marriage.
Mr. Henschel was employed with Domtar Paper for 39 years until his retirement in 2001. He served as president of the union while at the paper plant and belonged to the B.P.O.E. Lodge #343. He was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church and enjoyed bow hunting, fishing, golfing, and traveling.
He is survived by his daughter, Anita (Daniel) Varty; three grandchildren, Kevin, David and Michael Varty; daughter-in-law, Lucy; brother, Edmund (Sherry) Henschel; brother-in-law, Darrell Ashley; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and Lois Rosado, the second love of his life.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Henschel; sister, Dorothea Ashley; and two brothers, Daniel and Arthur Henschel.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Saturday in the Marysville Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, October 30, 2016 in Pilgrim Lutheran Church with visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m. The Reverend John W. Hitzeroth will officiate.
Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville.
Memorials may be made to Pilgrim Lutheran Church or the Port Huron Museum.
