Margaret E Howard

November 5th, 1922 to October 29th, 2016

Margaret Edith Howard 93, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2016, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Margaret was born November 5, 1922 in the small town of Parisville, Michigan. She was the middle child of the late Casimere and Elizabeth (Wloch) Schornak, owners of the Ubly IGA. She grew up working in several of her parent’s stores all through the Thumb area, from Parisville to Bad Axe, to Pigeon and finally Ubly. After graduating as salutatorian from Ubly High School in 1939, Margaret left home for Cleary Business College where she graduated in 1942 with a degree in bookkeeping. She applied that new knowledge at Parke Davis Drug Company in downtown Detroit. She would reminisce about going to big band reviews and Frank Sinatra concerts in Detroit with her friends until she got a job working for Star Oil in Port Huron. Her final job was for the prominent late Port Huron businessman John F. Wismer as a bookkeeper and head office administrator for several of his businesses; one of which was the local radio station, WHLS AM/FM. When the station decided to change the call letters of its FM station, Margaret was the one that came up with the new WSAQ FM call letters, stating that it was easy to type out. Margaret was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Even with her Alzheimer's, Margaret enjoyed walking, eating chocolate and playing with her young great-grandchildren. Unfortunately a few of the things she could no longer do were crossword puzzles, reading books, and going to church at St. Stephen Catholic Church. She is survived by four sons, James (Donna) Howard of Port Huron Twp., Robert (Janie) Howard of Clyde Twp., Dick (Lynda) Howard, and Donald (Mary) Howard both of Marysville; one daughter Jlynn Stout of Kingwood, Texas; ten grandchildren, James (Shelly) Howard Jr., Michelle (Ronald) Ainsworth, Robert (Rachelle) Howard II, Douglas (Michelle) Howard, Brian (Sara) Howard, Heather (Anthony) Hill, Brendan Howard, Kevin (Katrina) Howard, Sean Howard, and David (Angela) Stout; twenty great-grandchildren, Curtis, Joshua, Madeline, Robert III "Mick", Kelsey, Gibson, Gavin, Lincoln, and Connor, Tyler and Austin, Mariah, Anthony II, Lily, and Max, Tyler, Kaitlyn, and Cameron, Paige and Isabella; one niece, Kim (Bruce) Grusecki; and two nephews, Eric and Todd Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Beatrice Schornak and Arleen (Howard) Anderson; a son-in-law, Robert W. Stout; a nephew, Craig Anderson; a niece-in-law, Sheri Anderson; and a great-granddaughter, Ella Howard. Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Marysville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 in the Marysville Funeral Home. Deacon Dennis Crimmins will officiate.
