Dwight J Moore
Dwight Jennings Moore, 71, of Fort Gratiot Township, died November 4, 2016 after a brief illness.
On June 26, 1945 Dwight arrived at the station of life by parents Brooks and Irene (Parsons) Moore. He was greeted by his siblings, Jane, Joan, Archie, Brooksine, Basil and John. Dwight’s life train picked up many boxcars on his journey through life. He served in the U.S. Army from 1967-1970, married JoAnn Pozdrowski on October 18, 1968 in Port Huron and was employed for over 30 years with the Grand Trunk Western Railroad.
He was actively involved in scouting, holding many positions including the Executive Board and was an integral part of establishing Troop #100 with his brother George for handicapped scouts. He also coached the Local 44 Little League baseball team and was a member of Elks Lodge #343. Dwight was a loving husband, father and grandpa who loved to read, garden, camp and spend time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, JoAnn; three children, Jim (Stephanie) Moore, Andy (Stacey) Moore and Jennifer (Mark) Pitzo; grandchildren, Megan and Ryan Moore, Allison and Ethan Urban, John, Daniel and Caroline Moore and Michael and Matthew Pitzo; his sisters, Jane (Don) Williams, Joan (Charles) DeLand and Brooksine May; brother, Basil (Patricia) Moore; sisters-in-law, Rosalie Phillips, Carol Moore, Margurite Moore and Patricia Pozdrowski; his retirement buddy, Buster; many nieces and nephews; and a host of loving friends.
When Dwight arrived at his final destination, he was met by his parents, Brooks and Irene; brothers, Archie, George and John; brothers-in-law, Harry May and John Pozdrowski Jr.; his in-law’s John and Pauline Pozdrowski; great niece, Elizabeth Hyde and nephew, Brian Williams.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Monday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 8, 2016 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. Glenn Moore, his nephew, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Caswell Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Jim Moore, Andy Moore, Ryan Moore, Mark Pitzo, Tim Hubbard and Jeff Billins.
