Donald F Daniels
Donald Frederick Daniels, 91, of Port Huron Township, died Thursday, November 24, 2016.
He was born November 18, 1925 in Port Huron to the late Melvin and Gladys Daniels. He married Norma Jean Koschnitzke on April 10, 1948. She died on November 19, 1980. He then married Sandra Nicholas on January 28, 1983 in Port Huron. She died May 27, 2012.
Mr. Daniels served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed with the Port Huron Times Herald for 35 years and was a customer service supervisor at the time of his retirement. He was a member and Sergeant at Arms for the American Legion Charles Hammond Post #8. He was awarded the 2009 Spirit of Port Huron Brotherhood Award and was also named Veteran of the Year in 2010. He was past president and Melvin Jones Fellow of the Port Huron Host Lions Club.
He is survived by his sons, Jon (Linda) Daniels, Thomas (Barbara) Daniels, Stephen (Diane) Daniels, Murray (Karen) Daniels and Timothy (Sharon) Daniels; step children, Cindy Nicholas, Robert M. (Cheri) Nicholas, David Nicholas, Diane (Doug) Hill and Teri (Steve) Smith; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Clarence Daniels and his sister, Mary Smith.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Sunday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am Monday, November 28, 2016 in Holy Trinity Parish St. Stephen Catholic Church with visitation from 10:00 am until the time of the mass. Reverend Salvatore Palazzolo will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Parish St. Stephen Catholic Church, Leader Dogs for the Blind or the Port Huron Host Lions Club.
