Rae (Raymonde Elise) Zack, 92, of Fort Gratiot, died Tuesday, January 17, 2017.
She was born November 19, 1924 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada to Albert and Adrienne Asselin. She married Raymond S. Zack on January 10, 1944 in Ste. Anne de Detroit Catholic Church. They had been married 69 years when he died on July 13, 2013.
Mrs. Zack was a “Rosie the Riveter” during World War II. She was a wonderful seamstress and belonged to many sewing clubs and guilds. She was also a talented baker and cake decorator. She was a devoted Detroit sports fan and especially loved the Detroit Tigers.
She is survived by seven children, Michael (Marga) Zack, Jean Salkowski, Robert (Ann) Zack, Gerald “Gerry” Zack, Nancy (William) Burkart, Patrick (Lori) Zack and David (Laura) Zack; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a sister, Muriel Cox. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lorraine Zak.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, January 20, 2017 in the Library Room of the Vintage Tavern, 103 Michigan Street, Port Huron, followed by memorial visitation until 3:00 p.m.
