Robert James Thompson, 73, of Fort Gratiot Township, died Saturday, February 11, 2017.

He was born August 21, 1943 in Port Huron to the late Robert and Marie Thompson. He married Nancy Jane Kilbourn on June 27, 1964 in Port Huron.

Mr. Thompson managed several auto body repair shops in Port Huron and Richmond area including his business, 24th Avenue Collision. He also drove cars for area dealerships.

He was a classic car enthusiast, member of the Quarter Mile Cruisers and participated in Stock Car racing at Mt. Clemens Speedway. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Jeddo Lions Club and loved to golf at Elks B.P.O.E. Lodge #343.

Robert is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy; son, David (Shelly) Thompson; daughter, Kim (John) Belken; grandchildren, Nicole Lambert (fiancé, Bobby Tennant), Tyler (Becca) Lambert, Cody Thompson and Kyle Thompson; great granddaughter, Veronica Cook; brother, Dick (Dawn) Thompson; sister-in-law, Joan Walters; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, February 15, 2017 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Elder Troy Piper will officiate. Inurnment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fort Gratiot.
