Willis Moncrief
Willis Moncrief, 75, of Port Huron, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 17, 2017.
He was born April 28, 1941 in Port Huron.
Mr. Moncrief was employed with Ford Motor Company until his retirement. He was an avid fisherman and collector of memorabilia. He was a father figure to all he came in contact with and was revered by many. He spoke his mind with the truth peppered with humor. “Oh my Soul, and It is what it is.” He surveyed his community and made his rounds faithfully cruising around town at the lively speed of ten miles per hour. He enjoyed listening to music, especially the Blues and he received his high school diploma after retirement.
He was a long time member of Metropolitan Baptist Church, where he served faithfully and of which his grandmother was a founding member. He served with distinction in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was proud to have served and he was fond of saying, “I’m a Veteran!”
Mr. Moncrief leaves behind to mourn his passing, his children, Tina M. Moncrief of Baltimore, Maryland, Marvitis (Sabrina) Dupree, of New Baltimore, Anthony (Tracey) Dupree, Gregory (Burnilda) Smith, Brandie Martin (Damon Edwards), Lovell (Jewel) Hutchins, Veronica Hutchins, Lisa (James) Bankston; special nephew, Calvin Smith; great nephew, Brandon Smith; brother, Joseph (Berniece) Moncrief of Port Huron; sisters, Bessie Moncrief of Port Huron and Frances Armstrong of Grand Rapids; brother, Gordon R. (Athena) Stephens I of Port Huron; sisters, Saundra Callington of Marietta, Georgia and Paulette Lloyd of Jackson Mississippi; brother, Donald (Mary) McCullough of Port Huron; his special friend, Cynthia Calloway who remained by his side faithfully until the lord summoned him home; life time companion Geraldine Hutchins; 13 grandchildren and a host of great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Lee Coleman; father, William G. Franks; brothers, Lawrence Coleman, Leroy Coleman, Douglas Coleman and Jerome Coleman.
Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Friday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, February 25, 2017 in Metropolitan Baptist Church. The Reverend Anthony King will officiate. Burial will be in Allied Veterans Cemetery, Port Huron. Military honors will be provided under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
