Patrick E Cavanaugh

April 27th, 1937 to February 24th, 2017

Patrick Cavanaugh, 79, passed peacefully at his home in Kimball on February 24th 2017. Adored husband of Kathleen, proud and loving father of Kathie, Pamela Grey (Mark), Patrick (Glenda), Timothy, Kevin (Tonya), and Maureen Cassey (Kevin); also survived by brothers, Daniel, Lawrence, William and sister, Dolores. He is survived by fourteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his beloved dog Daisy.

Born in Detroit April 27, 1937 to Edwin and Marjorie (Martinez) Cavanaugh. He began working in his teens and held many jobs, the longest of which was with Chrysler Corporation. He also liked to share fond memories of the two years he served in the U.S. Navy.

Patrick expressed his creativity in painting and cooking, but his first love was photography. He used it extensively during his many years of volunteerism at the DIA and other venues. He loved people and life and experienced great satisfaction in capturing both in his photos. He never met a stranger. He brought joy and laughter into the lives of all who met him.

Dubbed “The King of Fun” by his good friend, Robin, a very bright light in the universe has been dimmed by his passing.

Memorials are suggested to the Detroit Institute of Arts
