Floyd D. Pobanz, 89, of Kimball, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2017 after a brave battle with cancer.
He was born September 5, 1927 to the late William and Lydia (Krohn) Pobanz at the family home in Brookfield Township, Michigan, the youngest of nine children.
Mr. Pobanz graduated from Sebewaing High School and immediately enlisted in the Army. He served in World War II stationed in the Philippines. After discharge, he proudly joined the Detroit Police Department, retiring in July of 1974. Early in his career, Floyd met and married Suzan K. Chapman. There were married 57 years when she passed away on June 14, 2010. Floyd also worked at Mercy Hospital and at Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
He is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Shannon) Dickinson; granddaughters, Keely (Kurt) and Teresa; great granddaughters, Juliana and Brynn; a sister, Edith; special friends, Vernon and Jacqueline Dickinson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon; brothers, Arthur, Howard, Norman, William and Clarence; and sisters, Gladys and Ruth.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Mark Madson will officiate.
Burial will be in Burtchville Township Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted under the auspice of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
